Nail of the Day: Nail Rock Nail Wraps in Chelsea
Long time, no Nail of the Day. Today’s post is about these awesome nail wraps I received from Nail Rock. I’ve never had great luck with nail strips in the past; usually they fall off in about 2 hours, so I didn’t have high hopes for these. They are actually great!
I put these on a couple of days before a manicure (which is why my cuticles look like they are having all kinds of problems above) and liked them so much I delayed the manicure. These lasted about 6 days before peeling and I got so many compliments from strangers on my nails.
I am horrible at all things nail art, so I selected these because they are bright, fun, and no dotting tools required! It only took about 10 minutes to apply these and I am a complete novice. I think I will get faster with time. The Chelsea print is perfect for Summer and make me feel tropical, even if I am sitting in a cubicle. I may have to pick a few more of these up!
PopSugar Summer Fun Box Unboxing
Today’s unboxing is for the PopSugar Summer Fun Box. These were first sold back in March and I remember I was very hesitant to get one. $100 on a mystery box is a lot of money, but I just couldn’t resist. I really like the Luxury box they did in December, so decide to treat myself. I am so happy I did. I love almost every item and would definitely have paid $100 for this.
It’s worth noting that this box arrived super fast. When it came, I had just gotten a shipping notice the day before and wasn’t expecting it. The regular monthly boxes take about a week to deliver, but these went out fast. I’m pretty impatient so that was great with me.
The Products:
House of Harlow Glasses – Tilda in Gunmetal
These are definitely the most “luxurious” item in the box, retailing for about $150! I can never spend money on fancy sunglasses so I was excited to receive these. They sent out 3 different styles and while I love aviators, I already have a couple pairs. Luckily, I found someone to trade with (she got the Lynn style in Fog) so I should have mine on Monday.
Sachin and Babi Black and White Sarong
This is probably my least favorite item in the box, but only because it’s something I won’t use much. I live in Texas and don’t have a pool, so I am thinking of repurposing it, possibly as a table cloth. It’s very beautiful; I just don’t want it to go to waste!
Swell Water Bottle in Teal
I love water bottles and thermoses. We have at least 10 floating around our house. This is really nice because it keeps drinks cold for 24 hours and hot for 12. I haven’t tested it for quite that long, but it does work really well and doesn’t sweat. I can throw it in a big bag and don’t have to worry about ruining anything. Plus, it’s aluminum and looks really nice and sleek.
Vitabath Exfoliating Sugar Scrub – Fresh Citrus Twist
I love body scrubs and this smells really yummy. I use scrubs year round so the more they send, the better!
Truffle Pouch
When I first saw this, I was less than pleased. It looked like a pencil bag and I couldn’t figure out what to do with it. Plus, I read that it retailed for over $30. I was at a loss until I threw it in my gym bag one day and realized how useful it is. It keeps my electronics and papers dry, even among wet and questionable smelling clothes and shoes. Also, it perfectly fits my ipad so I can definitely see using this if I do get to go on vacation this year.
Henri Bendel Candle – Wild Roseberry
This candle is the bomb. And Yes, I just brought that back. I’m not a fan of rose smells, but this smells fruity and floral. I love it. It reminds me of Lush’s Rose Argan Body Conditioner. I’m really impressed by the quality of this candle as well. It’s very fragrant and fills the room.
Starbucks Refreshers in Very Berry Hibiscus
I’ve always wanted to try these, but never have. I keep meaning to pick some up, but opt for coffee instead. These are perfect for summer and great for on the go.

Chanel Lilium Eyeshadow Quad Review
Today’s review is for Chanel’s Lilium Eyeshadow Quad. After being less than impressed with the Prelude quad, I didn’t have high hopes for Lilium. This was actually way better for me. The colors are perfect for my coloring and very “Spring.”
You can’t argue with the packaging! Chanel products look so beautiful and luxurious just sitting on your counter. Each quad comes with a velvety case for travel, 2 applicators, and large mirror.
This palette consists of a peach, yellow-green, smoky green, and taupe shade. I like the colors in this palette because the peach and brown can be used for a neutral look, or yellow and greens can be added to add some fun and drama.
The pigmentation is sheer, but I have found that using these shades wet really does the trick. I spray my brush with Mac Fix+ and then apply as normal. The finish has a slightly metallic and the pigmentation is AMAZING. I really enjoyed the staying power as well; my look lasted 12 hours without budging an inch. It was incredible.
I’m not sure if using as a wet shadow is the trick to all Chanel shadows, but this one definitely requires it. When used dry, this quad as the same problem as Prelude and merges into a single shade of sheerness. $59 is a little much considering I can’t use it dry, but I love the colors so much that I’m fine with it.
Beauty Blogger Survey Tag… Oh Yeah!
I recently saw Deb over at Beauty Product Reviews by Deb responded to this and thought it sounded like lots of fun. I love reading posts like this and getting to know beauty bloggers, so I thought I’d share a little bit about myself with you as well! Prepare to be riveted, or maybe at least mildly entertained for a few minutes.
- Is your hair naturally curly or straight?
–Stick straight with a single wave. It’s really annoying because I still have to straighten my hair! - What’s your natural hair color?
–Red; sweet Ginger red. - Do you dye it yourself or go to a salon?
–I have never ever dyed my hair. I got blond highlights once in high school: MISTAKE. I looked like a bloated Lindsay Lohan. - Do you wear the same style every day or do you change it?
–Mostly the same. Every day I part it to the side and straighten the phantom wave. Sometimes I get crazy and use my beach waver though. - Do you do your own mani/pedi or go to a salon?
–It depends on how “bad” I’ve been that month. If I splurged on other things, I do pedicures myself, but if I can, I get someone else to do it for me. I always do my own manicures. - How often do you change your nail polish?
–Twice a week or until it chips. - Do you polish your toes in the winter or just the summer?
–All year; I can’t stand unpainted toes for some reason.I tend to do super crazy/weird color combos in the Winter so it’s like my own little thing. That’s when I experiment with really poorly executed nail art. - How long does it take for you to put on your makeup?
–Usually about 15 minutes. I’m kind of a perfectionist so it takes me a little longer. - What do you do first, face or eyes?
–I go back and forth actually. My order is: Primer, Foundation, Eye Primer, Eyeshadow, Eyeliner, Concealer, Powder, Mascara, Eyebrows, Bronzer, Blush, Lipstick. - Do you “collect” makeup or just buy what you need when you need it?
–I never buy with the intention of collecting (Aka hoarding!) but I definitely buy more than I can conceivably use up in a normal time period. I have more color products than a normal person could use, but I buy things like concealer and foundation when I run out. - How often do you wear false eye lashes?
–Never. Being the great beauty blogger that I am, I can’t ever get them on right. They always move around or the ends come up so I gave up trying. Instead I just use a ton of mascara. - Do you do a full face of makeup every day?
–Yes. I use a lighter coverage foundation if my skin is behaving, but I love getting ready every morning so I do it all. - Do you wear makeup when you are home alone, or with family?
–Home alone or with the boyfriend, no. If I go out to eat or to the grocery store, I feel naked without at least a little something on. - Will you leave the house without makeup?
–I could if I’m doing something athletic, but my skin is too blotchy to be letting it run free. - How many high-end products do you have?
–Too many! I have about a 75% high end to 25% drugstore split. Mostly because if I’m not happy with a drugstore item, I’ll toss it. High end things (if I can’t return them) I’ll keep for longer and give it more chances. - Do you plan your OOTD every night or decide when you are getting dressed?
–Usually just as I get dressed unless it’s a special day. - How often do you change your handbag?
–Once a month maybe? I’m a handbag person so I like to switch it up. - What time do you get up and go to sleep?
–I usually get up around 7 during the week and go to sleep around 11. I’m all about the 8 hours! - How often or when do you work out?
–Does horizontal running count? - Left handed or right-handed?
–Right - How tall are you?
–5’10″ - Do you speak a foreign language?
–I speak/sign a little bit of ASL and a tiny amount of Spanish and Russian. Give me a margarita and I’m an amazing Spanish speaker. - How many pets do you have?
–None at the moment but I want a dog. - How often are you on WordPress?
–I check up about once a day but haven’t been able to post much lately! - Do you read comments posted on blogs?
–Oh yes! Nothing makes my day more than reading comments from readers! - Do you keep a list of products to try as you see other posts?
–Yep. The list is so long! - How did you come up with your blog name?
–I actually have no idea. I think I had a dream with Chaos and Cliche and it just kind of stuck. - What kind of camera do you use for photographs?
–Sony Cybershot W690. I REALLY want a Canon Rebel, but blogging don’t pay the bills!
- How often do you clean your house?
–Once or twice a week. I’m pretty clean and organized. - What is your favorite color?
–Burgundy, Navy, and Forest Green. - Do you swear?
–Like a sailor. - What are you doing with the rest of your day?
–Eating the yummy enchiladas my boyfriend is making.
That’s all folks! I tag everyone reading this to post about your beauty habits either in the comments or on your blog. Hope y’all are having a good week!
Birchbox April 2013 Unboxing
Hello everyone! It’s Birchbox time again and I have an amazing box to share this month. If you couldn’t tell from the title picture, this month Birchbox partnered with Women’s Health to create a box themed “Tiny Tweeks; Big Results.” I love the idea of this theme. So simple and fun.
Originally when I saw my box, I thought “Oh great, lots of energy bars and tea.” I was pleasantly surprised when I opened it. I got TWO full sized items. I never get that lucky with Birchbox. Both just happened to be items I was eyeing on Birchbox.com as well, so I’m especially pleased.
The Products:
Nexxus Hydra Light Leave in Conditioning Foam (full sized!)
I love Nexxus products and have contemplated buying this a few times. The smell is wonderful and absorbs well into my hair.
Sumita Eye Shadow Pencil in Tej (full sized!)
When I first saw this pencil, I thought the color was hideous. When I swatched it on my hand, I fell in love. The lilac color will look so great and the tiny silver sparkles make it fun. The formula is super creamy as well.
Supergoop! Advanced Anti-Aging Eye Cream (2 mL)
Never tried Supergoop! before, but excited about this. I guess with the exclamation point, you kind of have to be.

Yes to Cucumbers Facial Towelettes (3)
I’ve tried these in several beauty boxes and have loved them every time. They don’t clean any better than other towelettes, but I adore the smell.
Extra:
Yes to Grapefruit Daily Facial Scrub and Dark Spot Serum Packets
I’ve been wanting to try this serum for a while so I’m excited for this sample. Grapefruits are one of my favorite smells so I can’t wait to try it out.
