I once thought all lipliners were the same. They all go under lipstick, so I never thought staying power to be that important. When I purchased Urban Decay 24/7 Lipliner in 69 on a whim at Ulta one day, I mentally chastised myself for wasting money when any red lip pencil could have done.
Well, I was so wrong; this lip pencil has now spoiled me. It is so creamy, smooth, and long lasting that I want to go get more!
69 is a lovely blue-based red with tons of staying power. It helps all of my red lipsticks last a few hours longer between touchups and I’ve even worn it on its own for a matte red lip look. It’s definitely an investment compared to drugstore brands, but I’m now a convert.
Hey everyone! Your’s truly has been selected by Birchbox as one of 3 bloggers to participate in a Google+ Hangout with the founder of Jouer Cosmetics: Christina Zilber! I’ll be asking her a few questions about her products so feel free to comment here with any questions you’d like me to ask!
Jouer has been one of my favorite brands for quite a while. They don’t pump out collection after collection, just good quality products! Their products make me feel beautiful, but not overdone and are super easy to apply. To check out everything Jouer has to offer, visit https://jouercosmetics.com/.
If you’d like to watch the hangout, please visit HERE.
Also, I’d like to give a big shoutout to Birchbox for giving me this opportunity! Thanks!
I’ve been on a matte eyeshadow kick lately. I’m usually quite the shimmer girl, but the natural look of matte shadows has me intrigued. They are easy to wear to work, work well in the crease, and are great for the days you want to look well, Naturally Pretty (see what I did there? :) ). After hearing all of the hype about this palette, I decided to go for it.
The Naturally Pretty palette comes with 14 matte shades and one shimmer “transforming shade.” I put that in quotes because it doesn’t transform the shadows as much as adds a layer of shimmer over top, which looks a bit strange in my opinion. Instead of using this shade to transform mattes, I use it in my inner corner and my brow bone for a bit of a highlight.
The matte in this palette are truly wonderful. They are buttery soft and apply very smoothly. I also love that this isn’t just a collection of browns and neutrals. The matte pinks and purples are gorgeous and what initially attracted me to the palette!
I completely recommend this palette if you love matte shades. The colors in Naturally Pretty are unique and the palette is unlike any I have seen out which earns it a top spot in my makeup stash.
Hi guys! Today I want to share with you a few products that I can’t get enough of this week. This week I have been using a mix of new items and a few old favorites.
First up is an old favorite: the Lorac Pro Palette. I reviewed this way back in 2012 (HERE) and absolutely loved it. Since then, it kind of got hidden in the back of my drawer or cast aside for the hot product of the moment. I recently pulled it back out and am absolutely obsessed with it again. I’ve been experimenting with a bridal look for my November wedding and this may be the perfect thing!
Next is a new product: L’Oreal Miss Manga Mascara. After hearing several YouTubers rave about this mascara I knew I had to try it. I’ve only have it about 2 weeks but it’s quickly becoming a favorite. It lengthens my lashes and gives me a gorgeous doll eyed effect.
After having a wedding day makeup trial at Bobbi Brown, I decided to pick up the Bobbi Brown Foundation Stick in Porcelain because I was so impressed with it. I’ve had it on my wishlist for quite a while, but could never bring myself to purchase it. After using it, I’m glad I finally bit the bullet and got it. It’s perfect for my purse and easy to use for touchups.
Speaking of bridal makeup trials, I’m pretty sure MAC Lipstick in Syrup will definitely be a wedding contender. I usually use a different lipstick every day, but have work Syrup for 5 days straight. It’s the perfect pinky plum color that’s not too bold, not too sheer.
Next up is a naughty purchase I made 2 months ago while on vacation: Marc Jacobs Highliners in Obey-Ge and (Luna)tic. Both are pricey but the colors are so gorgeous and original. I love using Obey-Ge in my inner corner for a highlight and (Luna)tic on my lower lid for an understated pop of color.
Lastly, there is an unexpected favorite: Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Opal. I usually like a natural highlight but this color has me converted. It’s packed with shimmer but can be used with a light hand for a lovely effect.
That’s it for my WOW products of the week! Also, be on the lookout for reviews of these products in the coming days.
I may be late to the bandwagon, but I picked up a couple Revlon Colorburst Matte Balms a little bit ago and have fallen in love. If you have been reading this blog for a while you will know that I absolutely adore the original Balm Stains but I was a bit hesitant about matte balms. Would they be drying? How well will they wear? These actually surprised me on all accounts. They are very pigmented and easy to apply! I don’t have to build the color up at all and it is opaque in 1 pass.
Both pencils are actually quite moisturizing, despite being a matte formula. My lips didn’t get dry or flaky after wearing these and they wore very well throughout the day. There was no settling into lip lines or patchy fading. I would definitely recommend trying these out; I know I already have 3 other colors on the way!
