Josie Maran Magic Marker Lip and Cheek Stain in Quickstep Review

This is  the product I was most looking forward to seeing in my MyGlam July bag. While I have had a tumultuous relationship in the past with stains, I always seem to give them another chance and hope for a different outcome. Unfortunately, this was the worst I have tried in a while.

  • Packaging: .09 fl oz in a tube with a marker-like applicator. I don’t like these types of applicators because they always tickle my lips, but they do offer more precision.
  • Price: $19 on sephora.com
  • Color Payoff: This is described as a rich plum, but I’d call it a plummy pink. The color applies very sheerly but is buildable.
  • Verdict: I thought my major gripe with this product would be the color, as it looks extremely dark in the container. When applied, the color is actually sheer enough for all skin tones and very flattering. The dealbreaker with this stain is definitely the staying power. This stain was gone in 1.5 hours; that’s less than even cheap lipglosses last! I tried this over and over and got the same result every time. Within 45 minutes, I was left with streaking on the lips and after another 45 it was completely gone. I would absolutely not recommend this product; literally any stain I have tried is much better. It’s such a shame that this was a dud because I feel absolutely in love with the color.
